Measuring Migration, Integration and Identities: ACS Pre-Forum on Social Research
In conjunction with ACS Metropolis Conference, the Association for Canadian Studies will be holding a pre-Forum on the challenges of conducting social research on issues of migration and integration to be held at in room 106 the Ottawa Convention Centre on March 13th, 2013. The purpose of the Forum is to identify the best questions when it comes to the measurement of issues related to the process of migration, integration and identities. The Forum will consider the challenges encountered by social researchers in quantitative and qualitative work in this area. This includes recent changes to the census of Canada, the use of web versus telephone surveys and the best practices in doing comparative research.
An opening session will invite four of Canada?s leading specialists to discuss conceptual and methodological challenges in surveying diverse populations, Workshops will focus on the use of current and past data sets on migration, integration and identities (the Ethnic Diversity Survey, the Longitudinal Immigration Database and the 2013 General Social Survey).
